Legal Fund: Andrea Diaz, CR National Surf Champ

Andrea Díaz, National Surfing Champion, from Tamarindo, together with neighbors of the area decided to demonstrate and make public their petitions, under the protection of rights granted to the Costa Rican people by the Political Constitution in June 2020.
Exercising people’s rights did not contravene any regulations, and in the current circumstances, Andrea and her neighbors who demonstrated, complied with the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health; to wear protective masks, maintain physical distance, and make use of hygiene and alcohol gel.
The demonstration was not only in Tamarindo, as it took place simultaneously in
Manuel Antonio and Jaco Beach, Santa Teresa, all of them were a peaceful cry from these communities to the central government, demanding that the severe lock down be partially lifted under well designed and strategic guide lines, designed specifically for the beach areas. The lockdown had left 90 % of the population out of work and with zero source of income, therefore completely broken and abandon by government with no foreseen solutions, creating a hunger emergency in each one of this community. Something never experienced before by the Costa Rican people.
None of the marches blocked or interrupted the movement of inhabitants or their vehicles.
Andrea Díaz was approached by the police authorities, arrested, and taken to the Fiscalía in Santa Cruz, where she was placed under the orders of the judicial authorities. There, after due process, it was determined that she had not done anything criminal to pursue. But because she must be represented by a lawyer, and much paperwork and legalities to free her completely of the consequences of her arrest, including to demand the government to clean her file and dismiss the pending case.
We ask for your help. Andrea Diaz is a hardworking woman, single mother of 3,
a woman with high standards both as human being and as a professional, before Covid-19 she run a women's surfing retreats program, were not only she taught women how to surf, but also empowered them to overcome fear.
Diaz is a monumental character who finds herself victim of this pandemic and economically stranded by the complete shot down of the tourist industry.
The legal bills from her arrest have pilled up, in a time were she has a hard time put food on her children's table.
We ask if you would help Andrea Diaz pay her legal fees.

Andrea's legal team has reduced attorney fees by 50%!!!!! We have updated the goal to $2500. Any funds raised over the amount to cover legal fees will be given directly to Andrea to help care for her family. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.
