Legal Fees for Roller Derby Teammate

At the request and with permission from our teammate Black Magik, members of Wisconsin United Roller Derby (WURD) are reaching out to ask that you consider supporting our friend and vital member of the derby community in their time of need. This campaign is public and can be shared broadly.
Magik was recently arrested and they are currently being held in Rock County pending a hearing to set bail. To protect their privacy we have not inquired about the nature of the charges, but they have shared with us that it does not involve any direct harm to individuals or property.
We're concerned for Magik's immediate and long-term health, well-being, and safety. Black and transgender individuals are over-represented in our jails, and we want to make sure that Magik has their best chance at not becoming another statistic.
Ways you can help right now:
1. Please refrain from speculation and gossip. This is obviously a painful and scary time for Magik as well as their partner Mickey, and we hope we can agree to respect the dignity and privacy of our teammates.
2. Donating towards their legal fees and expenses. They are working with an attorney and need to raise $9000 by the end of the week (Friday, March 13th) to cover their initial legal fees and bail. Ultimately they are anticipating $15,000-$20,000 in legal fees, bail, and expenses related to detention/incarceration.
