**UPDDATE**
I wanted to update the story as we don’t want anyone to think that the information is misleading about Leeann’s diagnosis.

I would like to take a few minutes to share with you, the most dreadful experience any family should have to go through.  Leeann was enjoying watching her daughters dance in Paisley when she suffered a severe asthma attack. Thank goodness for the NHS - she was whisked to RAH in Paisley and quickly placed in a coma to preserve her life. When it was clear she wasn’t getting any better and we were told that there was nothing more they could do one of the doctors then suggested Ecmo as a last resort. Leeann was taken to Leicester to commence ECMO (dialysis for the lungs). Her family and fiancé stayed with her for 8 agonising days, not knowing whether she’d survive for her 4 young kids it was devastating to see her not responding in any way. Leeann turned 35 when in intensive care in Leicester.  She was then given the devastating news that she was paralysed from the neck down due to a spinal stroke.  **Leeann was told on her 35th birthday that she was paralysed from the neck down as her stroke affected from the top of her neck to the bottom of her back.  She has astounded doctors by miraculously gaining her upper limb strength but she remains in a wheelchair and unable to feel or move from the waist down and her diagnosis is that she is tetraplegic due to the nature of her spinal cord injury**

That’s been 3 months now and Leeann is back in Glasgow receiving rehibilitation in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital spinal unit unable to return home to her 4 kids as her home is not suitable for a wheelchair user therefore she cannot spend any quality time with her family.
Derek is 15 and due to sit his exams this year. Lily is going into primary 7 and is missing her Mum terribly. Carly suffers behavioural issues and is struggling to come to terms with it all and Jay (3) doesn’t understand why the doctors can’t fix mums legs.

We are appealing for help to raise funds for any future treatment for Leeann, also to help Leeann in any way we can to get her into a home and have it fully equipped and wheelchair friendly for Leeann to live comforably and safe with her family.

This has been been such a devastating time
for Leeann and her family as it is without the added pressure and stress.

Leeann is a very private person and would be mortified to be viewed as a ‘charity case’ but we all love her dearly and want her to know that everyone is rooting for her! She’s been amazing so far and is fighting so hard to have a good life for her and the kids!

Please help in any way you can and the family will be forever grateful.

Thank you x
