Today, June 22, Lee Mongrue would have celebrated his 77th birthday. If you had Mr. Mongrue as a teacher or maybe you worked with him as a peer, you would know that he was a truly amazing person.
I am starting this fundraiser to help support a fellow Cardinal, Nancy Charv (Class of 1999) who created a scholarship in Mr. Mongrue's name. Nancy told me that Lee saw the good in people, he dedicated his life to his work. He personally helped Nancy when she was a student at Hoover and visited colleges with some other students to show them that they are worthy and deserving of higher education. Nancy wants to keep that tradition going. This past spring, the Lee Mongrue Memorial Scholarship was able to award 3 seniors - $1000 each to help them with college.
The scholarship goes through the Hoover Foundation. Your donation is tax deductible because they are a 501c. Last year they awarded more than $27,000 to Hoover graduates, and the Class of 2020 was awarded over 1 million dollars in scholarships!
Fabulous Homes in San Diego is going to match up to $1000.00 during the next two weeks (June 22 to July 6). Anyone who donates, please do not donate anonymously if you want the tax letter of your donation. You can email us at [email redacted] with your address after you have made the donation and I will make sure you will get a letter mailed to you for tax purposes.
Richard and I were lucky to have Lee in our life as an educator and a peer. We are grateful to be able to have called him a friend.
