Lee Maxwell passed away today, September 9th in Albuquerque, New Mexico to go be with his Father in Heaven. Lee was 77 and is survived by 3 sons, 2 daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts in remembrance of Lee Maxwell, he and his family are taking donations for The Academy of Trades and Technology (ATT). Academy of Trades and Technology Charter High School combines career technology and academic courses using project based learning to reach “at risk” students, while developing their vocational, academic, social-emotional, and personal skills required to attain quality employment.
ATT serves students who have struggled in previous schools. Their programs engage students in hands-on projects, job training, and community service. Trained specialists help students deal with challenges in the classroom, as well as street life and family issues.
Lee Maxwell served on Youth Building Better Lives, Inc for four years, then moved to YouthBuild Trades and Technology to start the interim board on January 1, 2005. Lee Maxwell also served as the Governing Board President from January 1, 2005 until February 19, 2009 and then served as the Vice President from February 19, 2009 until his resignation on April 2017.
He was just recently awarded an Appreciation Award and a mural was completed of him last month. He spent the last 15 years of his life helping youth achieve greatness, pride, and a purpose with his tireless work. He mentored hundreds of students over that time period. Please consider a donation to this fund. 100% of the proceeds will go to the school.
Funeral services for Lee Maxwell will be Thursday, September 28th 4:00pm at French Funerals 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
