On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, Lee Mackay passed away suddenly at the age of 56 years.
Lee was born in Provo, Utah on April 25, 1961 to Dale and Nelda Mackay. As a young man, Lee was an avid scouter who attained the rank of Eagle Scout. From his experience in the scouting program, he gained a great love for the outdoors and found joy in serving others; he carried these with him throughout the rest of his life.
In 1979, Lee graduated from Provo High School, and went on to serve a mission for the LDS church in the Melbourne Victoria Australia Mission. During his missionary service, he met the love of his life, Jennie-Lynne. After returning home for a short time, he decided to return to Australia to pursue Jennie, and asked her to be his wife. Lee and Jennie were married in Wangaratta, Victoria and four days later sealed in the Provo, Utah LDS temple for time and all eternity. They returned to Australia and had 4 lovely children together; James, Robert, Virginia and Joseph. Lee obtained dual citizenship (United States and Australia) and spent 5 years proudly serving in the Royal Australian Air Force as an Avionics Instrument Technician.
Lee was a fun-loving man who loved life loved people. He was the goofiest guy around and had a great sense of humor. He was a true family man, and a wonderful father to his children, always putting family first; he loved his family deeply and expressed this in both words and deeds. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and lived what he believed every day of his life. He lived for his wife, and the two of them shared many adventures traveling to amazing places in various parts of the world. He enjoyed hard work and was a master craftsman. He constantly gave selfless service to those that needed his help, expecting nothing in return. He loved being known as ‘Pa’ to his grandchildren, and cherished and made the most of the time he spent with them. He was a man who truly lived in the moment and enjoyed every day, spreading smiles and happiness to all those he came into contact with.
