Lebanese Red Cross Relief Fund - Beirut Explosion

Donation protected

My name is Nicole and my family in Beirut, Lebanon has been irreconcilably affected by the Beirut explosion on August 4th. All funds will go to the Lebanese Red Cross, which is able to easily accept full and large amounts of foreign donations without imposed limitations sanctioned by law. The money will immediately help Lebanese families on the ground, along with the Lebanese Red Cross, in order to 1.  Help rebuild destroyed properties 2. Help provide shelter for those in need of it 3. Help provide fresh food and water to those in need of it 4. Help provide immediate medical care to those who need it 5. Help find the bodies of those who are missing 6. Help give funds to Beirut-based Lebanese Red Cross sites whose main goal is giving socioeconomic and medical support to those who need it, especially now in light of the explosion.

On August 4th 2020, Lebanon, my ancestral homeland and home to many of my relatives, experienced a devastating explosion to its main port in Beirut. The results of the blast were catastrophic, with over 135 mortalities, 5000 wounded, hundreds reported as missing,  as well as severe architectural damage.

The explosion destroyed anything within a 6 mile radius of its origin point, not only shattering windows but dismantling their frames.

Among the countless homes and businesses damaged is the Lebanese Red Cross - a non profit organization affiliated with the International Federation of The Red Cross Societies.

This is an organization that works tirelessly to provide relief efforts to victims of natural disasters and emergencies.

One of its main sites in Lebanon has incurred devastating  damages to its external and internal structures such as: blown out windows, destroyed window frames, collapsed doorways, fallen ceiling beams, and more.

This explosion could not have come at a worse time for Lebanon - in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and An unprecedented financial crisis, where citizens only get 3 hours of electricity per day in some parts of the country, most citizens having an imposed limit on how much they can withdraw from their bank accounts, and so on.

What’s worse is that the explosion occurred adjacent to one of Lebanon’s main grain reservoir silos - grains make up 80-90% of Lebanon’s exported products, and the port that has been destroyed is the access point for imported food and materials needed to support a population of >6 million people.

In a time of unprecedented financial demise, the funds raised here will go towards rebuilding The Lebanese Red Cross, among with donating funds to my family, and other Lebanese families needing financial support in rebuilding their homes.
