Leah's Scoliosis Treatment and Recovery Fund

On January 3rd, Leah had her typical yearly checkup. While examining her, the doctor noticed a  curve in her spine. We had X-rays done and they showed that she has severe scoliosis. Her doctor didn't explain much to us, just that it was bad and she needed to see a specialist.
We immediately did some research to find a specialist in scoliosis care and found Dr Noonan at the Madison Children’s Hospital.It was a long 3 weeks waiting for her appointment day. We spent countless hours researching all her options to try to be as prepared as we possibly could be.
January 23rd we finally had our appointment with Dr. Noonan. He was very thorough and answered most of our questions before we even had to ask.
Since Leah still has so much growing to do her curves will progressively get worse and being that she is already in the severe range on both of her curves (59° and 55°) he recommended she gets spinal fusion surgery. 
On February 18th we will be heading back to Madison where Leah will have her pre-op appointment. She will have a MRI, bloodwork, xrays and then we will meet with her physical therapist and tour the hospital.
March 3rd she will go in for surgery. She is expected to be in the hospital for around 5 days and wont be able to go back to school for several weeks.
  We are lucky that her insurance will pay for the surgery and hospital stay but we will still have numerous additional expenses. We will be missing several weeks of work between the two of us and will need to get a hotel/air bnb in Madison for the week of the surgery. Leah will need extra care during her recovery process and we want to make sure we have everything she needs to be as comfortable as possible.
