In 2015 Leah was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma tumour which is attached to the to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.
Due to this her hormones are greatly effected. Meaning she is on hormone replacement treatment tablets and growth hormone injections for life..
After a year Leah unfortunately went blind due to optic- atrophy causing the blood circulation to be cut off to the nerve which has led to the blindness. Doctors here in the UK have stated it's a high possibility it beyond repair but the surgeon that originally done the operation to reduce the tumour ECT has stated he may be able to reverse this and may regain Leahs sight.. Also there is new treatment based In America which involves stem cells and could also repair the nerve this way giving her a chance to see once again.. this is why I've opted to call this page Leah's chance..
This isn't all the problems my niece is currently suffering from due to the tumour.. she has as followed below
- Damaged hypothalmos due to tumour which means Leah suffers from hypothalmic obesity.
-due to hypothalmic obesity Leah suffers from sleep apnea due to weight issues.
-blindness due to optic nerve atrophy
The reason why I Mark Godbeer (leah's uncle) has set up this fund page is to give Leah the best chance to give her the best life possible and hopefully regain her sight, but this will come as a cost as the best medical procedures are based in the U.S, Im looking to raise £10,000 to get Leah to the U.S to give her the best chance possible. Allready the surgeon has offered to do necessary surgery for free, which is incredibly good of him but still there's going to be a lot of cost involved. I.E accommodation,further scans, test ECT ECT plus flights for family ECT. So I'm asking the public not just to donate but to sponsor me as I am a professional fighter and over the next ten weeks have two fights coming up. One 30th march In London the next 27th April in Moscow, Russia. In return I will put names and advertise all companies through my socail media and the bigger donations I will put company logos on my fight shorts and banners ECT.. these next two fight are broadcasted world wide and televised so great exposure for those willing to donate towards a great cause, Leahs chance. I like to thank you all for taking the time to read Leahs story and to those that donate. Hopefully together we can reach this goal and give Leah the chance this young 8 year old beautiful girl deserves.
