Leah Saved Her Cat But Now She’s Poor

Leah got a cat. Some a-hole got a car. A-hole (know as AH from here on out) probably should not have gotten a car. In his attempt to verify that he is the manliest man that ever could push a gas pedal, he ran over my sisters cat. The neighbors witnessed it. He was going so fast there was literally skid marks and massive smoke from hitting the brakes before he ran over her. The neighbors estimate he was going 50-60mph. AH manned up and took the responsibility of his mistake. Syke! He drove off! Angry face emoji here.

Leah and another neighbor were able to get the cat, who ran and hid under the car and she got her to the vet. She had a dislocated hip and two breaks in her knee. The good news was that she can have a complete recovery with no lingering issues, the bad news is that it cost A LOT of money. Leah had no intention of asking for financial help but has since had numerous offers and requests to start a go fund me so those who were interested had an option to contribute. So, I started one for her! The first surgery went wellbut because she’s such a young cat, she flailed around too much, re-breaking the leg and damaging the pins. The doctor just did another surgery to install a more permanent plate on the break so we now have to see how that goes. The vet bill is already at $6500 leaving Leah in a tough position.

Money aside, the outpouring of support and well wishes is overwhelming and amazing. Not that the timing would ever be good for something like this, but right now is especially stressful as she has gone back to work and is also trying to navigate serving with the new rules and fear of catching or passing Covid to herself, friends,family, and the public. Leah is a lucky lady to have such a support system and good friends!
