Lord Dannets Round Britain Challenge is 4 legs consisting of 10 day boat trips from one capital city in the UK to another. For each 10 days there will be 12 injured service personnel and 24 cadets aged 16-25 working as a team to sail the ship to the next capital city, climbing the mast, helm the ship, setting the sails and much more. This challenge will be completed on the Jubilee sailing trust's
Lord Nelson Ship which is made espcially for people with disabilities so will have things like weelchair access, etc. Each of the legs are:
Leg 1. London to Edinburgh - 25 July to 3 August 2018
Leg 2. Edinburgh to Belfast - 4 August to 13 August 2018
Leg 3. Belfast to Cardiff - 14 August to 23 August 2018
Leg 4. Cardiff to London - 24 August to 2 September 2018
I will be taking part in Leg 2 of this challenge, along with the other members on this Leg.
I have to raise £2000 for this challenge which will be paid off in instalments, Janurary being the first then March and finally May. This will go towards the jubilee sailing trust charity so I am trying to raise as much as i can. This will count towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award which will help me in the furture. I will also be able to achive the International Leadership Management (ILM) Level 3 Award which again will help me in the furture when looking into Unis and jobs.
The whole idea of this challenge is to be part of the remembrance activities that are taking place in 2018 to mark the end of the First World War. There will be a sheild placed in the Tower of London to commemorate the hard work and dedication that we have put into rasing awarness of the end of the First World War. For the person who raises the most amount of money on each leg will be presented with a quarter of a wooden shield that will make up the complete one in the Tower of London.
Any money donated will be greatly appreciated by the trust and myself. Thank you.
