On December 31st, 2017, my dear step-father, Marc Chesney, faced news that no parent should ever have to hear - that his 14 year old daughter, Layne Chesney, was in critical condition with 3rd degree burns to 95% of her body following a New Year’s Eve fire pit accident and was being airlifted to a burn unit in Miami, FL.
A week later, Layne remains in critical condition, in a medically induced coma, while she fights for her life and we all pray for a miracle.... in a week’s time she has already endured three surgeries and multiple complications; her future remains uncertain, with not only months but years of hospitalizations ahead of her.
This Go Fund Me account will go towards Layne’s ongoing medical expenses and also the financial expenditures for Marc so that he can take time away from work to travel and stay near Lanye while she is in such a fragile, critical condition.(Layne is currently hospitalized in a burn unit in Miami ; Marc and his wife, Mary Lou, reside three hours north in Central Florida).
