(I took that photo at her home, she hates having her photo taken). Laurie is a kind and generous woman who helps people with no expectations. A warm meal, a place to hang out, even rent money to keep them off the streets. She is always willing to lend an ear and offer advice. She served in the U.S. Navy and is now a disabled veteran about to be homeless. Her eviction notice was for the end of October. The stress of her impending move and the breakdown of the only vehicle she owns was a lot to bare. She was Struggling to find a new place on reduced benefits in the middle of a pandemic. All this on top of deciding how best to care for her service dog and two fur babies that meow. She has now suffered a serious stroke. She will be in the hospital for an unknown time recovering and part of the funds raised will be to place her animals in a pet care center for the duration. I am starting this fundraiser in the hopes that all the good she has done will come back around to keep her and her animals safe and warm this winter. I also ask that if you have any resources or ideas on how to assist her that you please share those ideas. She had wanted an RV to travel in or a camper to attach to her truck; but in her current state a single floor residence with a yard would be far more ideal for her extremely limited mobility. Even before the stroke the cartilage in her knees is little to none left and any living arrangements need to be adapted and modified for her condition. Resources for companies that adapt showers and lower countertops appreciated. Anything would help, even just a share!
