Lauren's cavernoma surgery

Donation protected
On April 23rd, 2017 Lauren was at work when she experienced paralysis on her right side she was rushed to the hospital thinking she was having a stroke.  She was in the hospital 4days/3nights with a diagnosis indicating she did not have a stroke however she had something more troubling.  Lauren was diagnosed with a cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM) also known as a cavernoma.  She basically has a cluster of blood vessels, in this case located in the cerebral cortex next to the brain stem, that are malformed and hers are bleeding.  Local neurologists in follow-up appointments stated her condition was inoperable and she was a ticking time-bomb and she could have an unrecoverable episode at any time.  Not satisfied with this opinion Lauren researched the disorder and possible treatments.  She found The Barrows Institute a leader in neurological treatment.  She uploaded her MRIs to their website for a second opinion.  The lead neurosurgeon reviewed her images and said that they could operate and remove the cavernoma (CCM).  This will require the family to travel from Spokane, WA to Phoenix, AZ.  This will be a three-week procedure including recovery.  Lauren’s son JD is autistic and will need to travel with her as will her husband Tim.  We are only asking for assistance to cover travel, essentials and, a place to stay and recover.  The surgery may be scheduled as early as July 2017.  She has been out of work since the hospital stay and we are doing what we can to provide her with assistance however she will need more than we can afford; anything you can do to assist is greatly appreciated.
