In loving memory of…… Laurence Plummer ❤️ Following the sad passing of a much-loved husband, father, brother, Grandfather & loyal friend to many, Laurence Plummer, this page has been set up to ensure all his family, friends & football colleagues past and present get to play a part in giving this amazing man the send-off and memorial he truly deserves and to ensure that his memory & legacy lives on for many years to come. “Plum” as he was affectionately known by so many, was not just a dedicated family man who doted on his wife Shirley, two children, Ryan & Bex and grandchildren Jack, Alfie, Amelie & Tristan, or a fantastic caring brother to Christine, he was the most committed man to football that many of us will ever have the pleasure to meet. His dedication to the game for more than 50 years, all at the same club that he started all those years ago, whilst balancing the family sacrifices this entails is literally unprecedented in modern times. His warm welcoming nature and calm demeanour made for a unique environment at his beloved football club Hollands & Blair FC, that so many players had the honour of being a part of over the years. It is a travesty that due to the recent pandemic, the clubs 50th anniversary celebrations were put on hold and it’s deeply regrettable that he will not be here to enjoy those moments with us when they are permitted to take place…. “Plum, those you very carefully and cleverly put in place, the whole club and everyone associated with you over the years will do you proud!” To so many, plum was the “go to man”, despite the many roles he performed in football and often several at once, he always found time somehow for anyone with a problem or issue and always had such sound, balanced advice that could be trusted implicitly. He was not simply a great man; he was also a role model and mentor to so many people and footballers who had the pleasure to spend time around him and his club. He was so consistent in everything he did, he was reliable, punctual, and always treated his family with such love and warmth, for all to see, despite all his other commitments and roles. He was a great example to so many young people starting out in life and taught so many so much over the years probably without even knowing it. He showed footballers how to be men and gave the opportunity to men to play football in an environment that many will never have the pleasure to play in, he will be sadly missed by many.   He leaves behind a club that has risen from virtually nothing that now has maintained SECFL prem level for many years and boasts an array of youth talent all the way down to the creche, all born out of one man’s vision, determination, commitment, and his desire to never stop pushing the club forwards. He was not a man for awards or accolades, he was not a man for medals or trophies, he was a people person whose family and football club meant the world to him. Now is the time to show our appreciation for him and the lovely family he leaves behind who have sacrificed so much for so many over the years. It is our time to show our support to him at this sad time and to raise money to suitably honour his memory after all he has done for so many of us over the years. Sadly, we will not get this opportunity again! Take this chance and please give generously and show the full force of the “Blair Army!” “RIP PLUM” xxx
