As many of you know, Lauren has had a tough year and a half. In January 2017, Lauren underwent brain surgery to remove a large benign tumor in her pituitary gland. Due to the long recovery, Lauren missed roughly 8 weeks of school.
The following July, Lauren's dog, Mercedes had to be put down after being diagnosed with MegaEsophagus and Aspiration Pneumonia, in addition to her IMPA and Meningitis. Lauren tried endlessly to do everything she could do for Mercedes including months of treatment and expenses.
In January 2018, Lauren woke up to a locked jaw. She tried several treatments but they were unfortunately unsuccessful. She was then referred to a top surgeon in FL to undergo surgery for a bilateral TMJ disc replacement with a fat graft procedure. The next nine months will consist of her adjusting to life with surgical braces, drinking lots of liquid meals, talking through her teeth, and completely endless jaw exercises. Her goal of 2019 is to NOT have another surgery and to be able bite into a sandwich again.
The goal of this GoFundMe is to relieve Lauren of this financial burden. Just this event alone, consists of expenses of traveling to FL for pre-op appointments, surgery, and follow-up appointments as well as housing for two weeks for her recovery in FL. Unfortunately, her insurance does not fully cover TMJ surgeries.
