Laura's Leukemia Fight

My name is Walter and my girlfriend's name is Laura.  For those of you that don't know her she is strong, beautiful,hardworking  and my best friend .On January 9th our lives and our families lives changed forever. Laura was diagnosed with Acute Meyloid Leukemia.In addition to this diagnosis she was determined to have a very aggressive mutation.This is a life threatening form of blood cancer. It requires countless rounds of very intense chemotherapy along with a bone marrow transplant. The cost of the transplant alone is $850,000.
  



Thus far Laura has completed the first round of chemotherapy.She was hospitalized for 27 days. Only immediate family members where allowed to visit due to the high risk of infections and other potentially fatal complications.The search for donors has begun with the testing of family and friends.Presently,her two sisters provide the best donor possibility at only a 50% match.
A bone marrow transplant has a long recovery time,it can take 6 months including the first 100 days of 24 hr caregiving once she’s out of the hospital.

Laura can no longer work and has applied for disability benefits. Consequently, she is staring at a future that is uncertain and unpredictable based on the incredible cost of treatment and transplant.These funds would help pay for medical, pharmaceutical and caregivers. Any assistance that you could provide no matter how big or how small would be greatly appreciated and possibly allow Laura to focus on fighting the battle of her life.
