Hello there! My name is Mike and I’m incredibly proud to announce after winning Gold for sparring at the Canadian Nationals in May, that I’ve qualified to represent Canada at the ITF World Championships. This is one of the most prestigious events in my Taekwondo discipline. The World Championships are taking place this October in Croatia.
This will likely be my last time competing at this level and I’m reaching out to ask for your support to help make this dream a reality.
I’ve been training in Taekwondo for over 30 years, and I’m one of the oldest members on our national team. While many athletes in this sport peak young, I’ve stayed committed to training, improving, and representing my community with honor. Competing at this world championship is a culmination of decades of hard work, sacrifice, and passion.
My style of Taekwondo is not recognized by the Olympics, which means we receive no major funding or sponsorships despite having a strong, committed global community. All expenses fall on the athletes themselves.
That’s why I’m turning to my extended community, friends, family, fellow martial artists, and supporters who understand what it means to fight for something you love, even when the odds are stacked against you.
This isn’t just about medals, it’s about representing a traditional martial art with heart and integrity. It's about showing that age doesn't define passion or performance. And it’s about finishing this competitive chapter of my journey on the world stage, giving it everything I have.
Whether you can give a little or simply share this page, you’re part of my team. Your support gets me one step closer to that mat and to closing this chapter with pride.
Thank you so much for being part of this journey.
