My father is a devoted husband to my mom Sylvia, an amazing and very supportive father to three Langan children, Daniel Jr., Laura and myself. He is a grandfather and an excellent caretaker to his one and a half-year-old grandson, Jaxson Scott. He is an extremely unselfish and a generous man. He always goes out of his way to help anyone who needs him without asking for anything back. He is the kind of person who gives his last dollar to someone who needs it, even if he needs it more. He is humble, always happy and always sees the positive outlook in life.
My father has been fighting against diabetes for the last six years until the disease recently defeated him. On the night of August 12th, 2018, he was rushed to the hospital with a fever of a 103 and an ankle bulging out. He underwent an operation that changed his entire life. The doctors split open his ankle and drained some puss out of the area, but noticed that the bone itself deteriorated and his body began to down. In order to prevent the risk of dying, my father had no choice but to amputate his foot. He was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a disease of the bone and has been residing in the hospital for seven weeks now. He is currently on dialysis three times a week leaving his body weak and exhausted. Although his levels are slowly becoming stable, he now must deal with his own mental battle of adjusting to this new style of life.
My siblings and I have been working 24/7 to have both ends meet, but still, our hard work is not enough especially when it’s time to pay the bills. We are not complaining, but we are knocking at your generous hearts to please help us raise $ 3,000.00 for my dad. We could use the money to buy a wheelchair, a medical bed and a prosthetic for his foot, hoping that sooner my dad could come home and be with us again, his family.
