It would be sufficed to say that the last fifteen months have proven to be a challenge on each and every person worldwide and will no doubt, have left its mark on us all in some way or another. A prime example, a person’s mentality being pushed to the ragged edge after months in lockdown and a severe lack of social interaction. With the ever-rising numbers of mental health related incidents, the urgency to raise awareness is imperative as is the ability to talk about it.
Therefore, after successful endeavours from Tom Devereux earlier in the year in raising money for Mind, it took little over four weeks to complete the equivalent ninety miles of Hadrian’s Wall from coast to coast, and after much deliberation it was only a matter of time for the fundraising efforts to continue, this time to go further, harder and build on the foundations of previous efforts.
Of the back of the solo effort in February/March, this next chapter will see Tom join forces with the fantastic people of Selby and surrounding areas, in particular Paul and Aimee Rathbone of Talk Tonight Selby CIC in walking the equivalent 874 Miles from the United Kingdom’s most southerly point at Land’s End to the most northerly point of John O’ Groats.
Continuing with the idea of raising awareness of mental health and the support network that comes with it, all monies raised from this 874-mile challenge will go to Talk Tonight Selby CIC and the amazing work Paul and Aimee do for the community. Our latest endeavour will offer the team a stern test as we face our mammoth task and look to conquer it.
