Denny and Windy's worst nightmare imaginable came to be this week when they lost their home to the CZU Lightening Complex Fire in Boulder Creek California.
It was the event that most locals thought impossible and would never happen in our beloved Santa Cruz Mountains.
Being one of the first groups to evacuate, many locals including this family believed that like most fires that happen in this area our amazing fire department would squash it in a couple days. That proved impossible within days due to unfavorable conditions.
With their belief in returning soon they left home with little, a few changes of clothes and a box of pictures. They have no insurance, are unable to work right now due to being displaced and have exhausted the little they had to stay in hotels and buy essentials and therefore no money for rebuilding their lives.
