The Landrum family was overwhelmed by the help that we received last year at the beginning of dad's medical crisis. I don't know what we would've done without it.
For those who don't know -- over the course of the year since we last updated GoFundMe, dad had numerous surgeries and procedures in an effort to save his leg. It eventually became too much, and he underwent the surgery to amputate in December.
During this time, our mom Tammy was hit with her own medical issues. She has been undergoing treatment at MD Anderson, which includes a daily chemo pill. Through it all, she has been Superwoman, traveling to Houston for countless doctors appointments and hospital stays.
Between her health and dad's health, she has missed a lot of work, and dad has been unemployed. They have covered the cost of dad's COBRA insurance out of their own pockets to ensure that dad's insurance coverage continued. This has depleted their savings down to $0.
Now dad is almost at the end of his journey, and has been fitted for a prosthetic leg!! While this is great news, the cost is causing a lot of anxiety . We will be facing a $5,000 -$7,000 bill for the leg, depending on the final amount of insurance coverage.
We are reluctantly reaching out for help again --- the light at the end of the tunnel is SO close, but will be hard to reach without help.
