Missy and Landon's Honeymoon

Donation protected
Hello!
We are Landon and Missy! If you're reading this, you probably know us. Maybe you don't. Either way, here's a little backstory for you:

A Slow Start to a Love Story
We first met twelve years ago, when we moved into adjacent apartments. We were both in other relationships at the time, but we forged a great friendship. It wasn't until 2010 that we were both single and found our friendship evolving. Everyone was happy when we finally started dating. We fit together so well! In 2012, we packed our bags and headed west-- from Indiana to Oregon.

A Natural Progression
The past six years have been full of adventure and lots of laughter. We enjoy creating music and art together and we spend as much time as possible in nature, whether we are on a day hike or a five day backpacking adventure.

It was on one of these adventures, a camping trip in the Redwoods, in October of 2014, that Landon proposed to Missy by the light of our campfire.

Never ones for formality, but always up for a party, we planned for an easy courthouse wedding in late June 2016, to be followed with an awesome potluck reception here in Portland and then the plan was to spend July traveling to see the family who were unable to make a trip to celebrate our wedding day with us. Some of our family haven't seen us in over two years or longer!

Bad News Always Comes at the Worst Times!
If you know anything about Portland's current housing market, this probably won't surprise you: in May of 2016, we received a 90 day notice to vacate the house we've been renting for the last four years. The owners decided to sell and the price is for to steep for us to consider buying.
We struggled to find a new place to live, searching for places, putting in applications, paying the application fees only to be told they went with the person before us. It was stressful, but we finally snagged a sweet little apartment in a nice part of town. Unfortunately, we had to clear our honeymoon savings to cover moving costs, fees, and deposits for our new apartment.
But we're still smiling!

Rolling with the Punches
We have decided to reschedule our courthouse wedding and potluck party for July 5th. Losing our honeymoon money was sad. We had planned this road trip for over a year, and we were really looking forward to seeing our families. But we have no money, so what else could we do?

Then a friend suggested that we try a go fund me account! We're not looking to acquire stuff (we're moving from a three bedroom house to a studio apartment-- we don't need stuff!), so we're doing this in lieu of the wedding registry.

The Goal
Ideally, we're hoping to gather enough funds to be able to spend two to three weeks driving across the country to see family and friends, many of whom are unable to travel to us because of either health or financial reasons.
Missy's fall term at school starts in late September, so we would like to try to attempt our honeymoon at the end of August.

Thank you so much!
We'd love to be able to celebrate our marriage with our loved ones! Thank you for helping to give us a nice start to our life as husband and wife! <3
