Landan’s Funeral Expenses

Donation protected

On July 13th, two lives where taken from us violently. The hole that has been left from the loss of Honeylynn and Landan will never be filled. It is my hopes to make sure that these two get laid to rest.

My Brother did not deserve to die this way, and the attack on him and Honeylynn was uncalled for.

I have reached out to Honeylynn’s family and I will be sending them 1/2 the amount received to help offset the costs of her arrangements.

If you are able to help, please do. This has come as a shock to family and friends alike. Two lives taken too soon.

More information on the event that transpired will come as we get them. Right now, we are waiting for more information.

Honeylynne Garcia and her boyfriend Landan James Klein were shot to death Tuesday night outside a busy Sierra Vista restaurant in what investigators say was connected to a drug debt. On Wednesday, two of Garcia’s brothers from California were arrested during a police stakeout of the home their sister shared with Klein.

Garcia and Klein, both 25, were shot multiple times around 7 p.m. Tuesday during an incident captured by at least one surveillance camera along Fry Boulevard near North Sixth Street. Garcia died at the scene while Klein’s death was pronounced a short time later at Canyon Vista Medical Center.

A Sierra Vista police detective was keeping the couple’s residence under surveillance Wednesday morning while another detective sought a judge’s approval to search the property for evidence connected to the killings.  As the detective conducted the stakeout, two men -later identified as DJ Leeroyce Garcia, 27, and Roger Carlos Garcia, 21- were seen placing items from their sister’s home into the trunk of a Nissan Sentra.

The brothers told officers they drove from California after learning of Honeylynne’s death. A search of the Nissan revealed various illegal drugs, cash, and several firearms.

The admitted shooter, 21-year-old Devon Nathaniel Neff of Sierra Vista, is being held in the Cochise County jail on a no-bond order for one count of premeditated first-degree murder and one count of intentional second-degree murder.

Neff initially fled the scene but contacted police a short time later to turn himself in. He told investigators he fired at Garcia and Klein in self-defense, but on Thursday the Sierra Vista Police Department issued a statement describing the murder scene differently from the perspective of the surveillance video.

According to SVPD, the video shows Klein driving a Chrysler 300 into the restaurant parking lot and stopping next to a parked Dodge Challenger. Klein got out of the Chrysler and walked to the driver’s window of the Dodge.

“After what appears to be a brief conversation between Klein and the driver of the Challenger, identified as Neff, Klein can be seen punching Neff several times before walking away. Neff then points a gun out of the driver’s side window and shoots Klein, who runs away,” the SVPD statement reads.

Neff is then seen getting out of the Challenger and walking to the rear of the car. The video shows the passenger door of the Chrysler open at which time Garcia is shot by Neff, who then crouches behind his vehicle while doing something with his gun.

“He then stands up and shoots at Garcia three or four times,” the statement says. “Neff then gets inside his vehicle and leaves the scene.”

Based on Neff’ comments after the shootings, investigators turned their attention to the home Garcia and Klein shared.  And that, according to Det. Joshua Nicola, is where officers came into contact with five people -the two Garcia brothers, their mother, DJ Garcia’s fiancé, and a “little girl” on Thursday morning.

In a probable cause statement Nicola presented to the court, Det. Marco Madrid was conducting a stakeout outside the home while waiting for a court-authorized  search warrant. Arizona Daily Independent obtained the document after the Garcia brothers had their initial court appearances.

“While watching the house, Detective Madrid noticed two vehicles parked in front of the residence with California license plates,” Nicola wrote, adding that two men placed items from the house into the Nissan’s trunk. “Due to the concern evidence was being removed from the home, officers were asked to respond to the residence immediately and lock it down until the search warrant could be obtained.”

The search warrant application was updated to include the two vehicles, and during an examination of the Nissan trunk the detectives located a Ruger 556 rifle, a Zastava 7.62 rifle, and a Glock19 9mm handgun. They also recovered a suitcase containing a Taser, a Hi-Point .380 handgun, a fully loaded .223 high capacity magazine, 13 boxes of various ammunition, an extended 9mm gun magazine with 24 rounds, and other firearm accessories and ammunition.

Other items found in the trunk included one pound of illegal Psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, and 251 THC cartridges which had a street value of $5,500, while a backpack in the vehicle contained Honeylynne’s passport and birth certificate, along with nearly $2,000 cash and a cell phone.

“DJ and Roger did not take any memorabilia, photo albums, or other items related to Honeylynne,” Nicola wrote.

Both Garcia brothers are charged with four counts of misconduct involving a weapon and one count each of possession of a dangerous drug for sale and possession of marijuana for sale. They are being held in jail by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office pending trial in lieu of a $20,000 secured appearance bond for each.

An early resolution hearing is set in their cases for July 21 at the Cochise County Superior Court in Bisbee.

Meanwhile, a search warrant executed at Neff’s residence after the shooting led to the seizure of illegal drugs and paraphernalia. He was treated and released at Canyon Vista Medical Center for facial injuries before being transported to the county jail later on Tuesday night.

Neff was initially booked into jail on two counts of second degree murder, but one of those counts was updated Wednesday to a first-degree murder charge. His next court appearance is uncertain given the change in the seriousness of the charges.

Last month Neff was charged out of the Sierra Vista Justice Court with theft with a value more than $1,000. He had not yet made a court appearance in that case before his arrest this week on the murder charges, so a justice of the peace conducted the initial appearance Wednesday.

Court records show Neff also has an open 2021 criminal case in the Quartzsite Justice Court for speeding and driving without a valid license.
