Lamar High School Volleyball is made up of 54 young women: 13 players on Varsity, 17 on Junior Varsity, and 24 on the Freshman teams.
Even though the season has been shortened by school starting so late after Hurricane Harvey, this season we will play each team in the District only once, from October 3rd to October 24th. But we can already see how well all our girls are playing, and it’s going to be a fabulous season.
To make the season even more memorable, we are seeking donations to our Booster Club from parents, families and friends. Not only will this help make the End of Season Banquet particularly special, but the money we raise this season will also allow our volleyball director, Coach Doug Jackson, to plan ahead for next season. These funds pay for tournament fees and officiating costs, and Coach Jackson plans to build further on the training equipment purchased this year to enable our athletes to develop their skills, and to get stronger and faster, during the playing season, in the off-season and during the summer conditioning program. The cost of replacing older equipment with the new Lamar Texans logo in previous years all but wiped out the funds we had, and so we’d like to begin to build them back up now to ensure success for the program and for our players in future years.
HISD pays for some of the teams’ costs, of course, but we would still aim to raise around $5,000 to support our teams. Your financial donation today will help ensure that our volleyball players and their coaches are given the tools they need to succeed.
