Lakou Mizik - Support Fund

Hello and Bonjou!

We are reaching out to you, our friends, and our fans across the globe to ask for your support. Lakou Mizik has been on a mission to promote Haitian culture and music around the world for over a decade. Our goal has always been to create positive connections to Haiti through recordings, concerts, collaborations, and education. We feel incredibly lucky to have been able to share our passion and pride for our music with so many of you over the years - including fellow passengers on delayed flights...

Sadly, Haiti is in the middle of a “perfect storm” of terrible gang violence, political instability, and economic turmoil. The honest truth is that these days daily life is both difficult and dangerous in ways that we have never experienced before. There are almost no opportunities for musicians to play shows locally, and we have even had to give up some international shows because many embassies are not processing visas due to the upheaval.

Even with these rough realities - we continue to create music and see our job as musicians and artists as more important than ever. We are hoping to release a new song and video before the end of the year and are working towards writing and recording a new album in 2023. We have to stay active and have to stay positive so that Haiti's problems don't overwhelm our spirits and that we can keep connecting with audiences and advocating for change for all Haitians.

We have created this fundraiser so that our friends and fans can support our work directly and help us get through this tough period. Our goal is to raise $8,000 USD before the new year. These funds will sustain the band members and our families and will allow us to focus on writing, recording, and sharing new music.

If you have experienced one of our shows, attended one of our workshops, or felt moved by one of our songs - then you have felt the love that we have for our work and our culture. If you are able, please help us continue our mission through this difficult time.

Thank you / Mesi Anpil and Ayibobo!
