Lakota Ride 2017 Brandl Pledges

On August 2nd, 2017, I will gather Alex (17) and Miles (15), before the crack of dawn, to begin a 23 hour trek driving West.
Our destination: Ash Hollow, Nebraska, where we will join the Tipi Raisers http://www.thetipiraisers.org/ on their annual Lakota Ride to benefit the Pine Ridge Reservation.
The Lakota Ride 2017 is a 400 mile horseback ride from Golden Colorado to the Pine Ridge Reservation over the course of 22 days.
The Ride is led by Lakota youth and tribal members.
Its purpose:
-Native and non Native Peoples reconciliation; the spread of knowledge and new understanding.
-Fund raising for various construction and renovation projects on Pine Ridge. These include, the building of a home, repairs on other homes and creation of gardens. Addittionally, funds will support Lakota cultural events and scholarships for non native youth visiting Pine Ridge on volunteer trips.

Target sponsorship for each rider is $500. Thus far, our family has raised $240, hence our$1760 (including Nola's sponsorship) go fund me goal.
For sure we will be hot, and sore and tired. Our segment of the Ride will span 145 miles over 7 days. However, I cannot pretend that this ride won't be life changing and so very worth it. It is an honor to be able to join this group. We humble ourselves for all we are about to learn on this physical and spiritual journey.
Most of all I am grateful to be able to expose Alex and Miles to this experience. Raising four good men is more than just providing food and shelter. It is about exposure, education and character development. I cannot imagine a more positive, formative experience for my sons.
Our family seeks only sponshorship to benefit Tipi Raisers. Travel expenses to and from the Ride, as well as a few needed supplies, we will cover ourselves.
We so kindly ask that you share whatever you can with this amazing group to make the Lakota Ride 2017 a huge success, for those who need it most.
