Robotics Trip to China
Donation protected
Our team, which consists of Kyle Mohrmann, Jackson Loseke, Mason Stahl, and Alex Ruelas, qualified for the China Cup which is a robotics competition being held in Shanghai, China for eight days from July 10 to July 19. We qualified for the event by being a competitive team at all of our robotics meets this year. Only five teams from the Open division will be attending the China Cup this year.
This year the robotics program at Lakeview consisted of four different teams competing at the events. Three of our four teams qualified for the state competition and our team also qualified for the U.S. Open competition in April. We placed sixth at the state competition and third overall for the China Cup qualifications. Lakeview has had a robotics program for five years now and we are the first team that has qualified for this event. We also received the Honor Award at one of meets this year. The Honor Award is the highest award that a team can earn in the competition. It is awarded to a team that is competitive, helps other teams, and is respectful to everyone at the event.
We will be traveling with the travel agency MCI who has estimated that the trip will cost $3,178 for each of our team members. This will cover the flights, hotel, food, and travel while in China. There are a few other minor expenses that they won’t pay for such as visas and passports. That comes out to total of $15,000 that we have to pay before June 1st. Any amount of money would be extremely helpful in funding our trip. Thank you for your donations. Here is a link to an article about our trip written by the Columbus Telegram.
