Laika's Surgery Fund
Donation protected
Our beautiful and loving family dog Laika was shot in the leg and left to die in a field across the street from our house yesterday, 1/31/18. When we finally found her, we rushed her to the vet where we were told her back leg had been shattered by a large caliber bullet. While we may never know who shot her, or why, we suspect she was mistaken for a coyote. Sadly, the shooter did not take the time to know (or maybe just didn't care) what kind of animal he or she was shooting.
Thankfully, Laika will live. Her leg, however, is in bad shape and will need either several surgeries to repair it, or to be amputated. We have an appointment with a specialist on Monday, 2/5, after which we'll know more about our options. Either outcome will be quite expensive, and we are hoping to raise some money to help offset the cost of Laika's medical care.
Laika is a treasured member of our family and we are devestated that someone could be so careless and irresponsible with a firearm as to shoot our pet. Thank you for reading Laika's story, and we truly appreciate our family, friends, and neighbors who have shown so much support for our sweet girl.
