11yr old Lacy's Breast Cancer Fund

Donation protected
Hello friends & family. Last month during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my beautiful baby girl Lacy was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Lacy is only 11 yrs. old and the youngest of my 3 daughters. In July, when she first started complaining of soreness in her chest, I casually attributed it to the onstart of pubescent development. Nevertheless, the pain in her breast began to increase and I noticed that her left breast was abnormally larger than her right. So my ex-husband and I took her to the her pediatrician, where she was originally diagnosed with mastitis: inflammation of the breast tissue.  However, her pain continued to grow worse and the single breast continued to grow larger. Therefore we took her back to the hospital and after several more visits, antibiotics, tests, ultrasounds & and an MRI; it was solidified that my sweet little Lacy did not have a simple infection or inflamed  tissue but instead, a rare form of breast cancer called Phyllodes Tumor.

These tumors are rare and can be malignant if not immediately removed. Phyllodes tumors found in adolescents are even more scarce, between 4% - 6%, grow very rapidly and can metastasize; and when they do they typically spread to the lung, bones, heart, and liver. Unlike with a typical breast tumor, there is no systemic treatment (chemotherapy or hormonal therapy) that phyllodes tumors have been found to respond to. They do not respond to radiation either.

The tumor Lacy has is the size of a large canteloupe and has already metastasized. Therefore, she is in urgent need of an immediate mastectomy, within the next 3 weeks. Afterward, the plastic surgeon will need to do reconstruction to her breast once the tumor is removed. The dillemna that we are now facing is that the referred surgeon, that specializes in this type of procedure for pediatrics, is out of our insurance network and we don't have the funds readily available for the surgery. Time is of the essence and it seems like it's running out quickly. Please assist her father and I, in getting this surgery and saving our daughter's life!
