Our friend Lacy Reeves needs us

My name is Craig Kennedy.
I am a colleague of Lacy Reeves from her TV days. More importantly she is a very dear friend. If you know her at all I suspect you feel the same. I’m reaching out because she needs our help and would never ask for herself. Her “there are others suffering more than me” mentality, makes it difficult for her to receive help from others.
Lacy was hospitalized over the holidays with a serious, even life threatening, infection in her bones, called Osteomyelitis.
You may know she lives with three autoimmune diseases requiring ongoing, aggressive treatments, including a form of chemo every 6 weeks. The fact she had treatment prior to discovering this infection makes the battle she’s fighting even harder because the treatment suppresses her already compromised immune system even more.
They wanted her out of the flu-infested hospital ASAP, so she was sent away with a PICC line in place. Now she will take IV antibiotics at home for 6-10 weeks.
Maybe you saw her Facebook post as I did. She is fighting the good fight and her positive attitude is one of her best weapons.
What many don’t know are the challenges she faces behind the scenes.
When she lost her voice in early 2015, she started cleaning houses to keep a roof over her and her son's head. While she has just started to make her comeback as a professional speaker, she continues to clean until speaking can become a full time gig.
That is until now.
Doctors told her there are many things she can’t do while on IV antibiotics. Lifting and vacuuming are both on the list, amongst other things, making it impossible for her to work until she is considerably better. They predict between 6-10 weeks. When I spoke with her, the prospect of not working while facing a pile of medical bills is what brought her to tears.
Lacy is a giver of her heart, her time and her resources.
She’s the person who answers pleas for help, even in the dead of night and surprises others by rallying the troops to flood someone with a blessing.
With your help, I’d like to “pull a Lacy” on Lacy.
Lacy is constantly chiseling away at a mountain of debt caused by her medical expenses. I’ve been blown away watching her drive for Lyft, sell her own possessions, clean houses and more. She simply never gives up. But to be told she can’t work at the start of a new year when new deductibles have to be met, seems to be the thing her positive attitude can’t overcome. Or can it?
If you’ve ever been inspired by Lacy or been on the receiving end of her kindness maybe you’d consider joining me by throwing in a few bucks. My hope is we can help cover a few of her expenses so she can focus on beating yet another physical challenge. You probably know Lacy loves to tell others about how she relies on the Great Physician.
