Support Julie's Family

In January 2016, our dear friend Julie Laciskey was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. After recovering from her initial surgery, Julie began treatment, filled with hope and with the full intent to beat the odds associated with this particularly cruel disease. Since then she has bravely and gracefully faced several rounds of treatment including radiation, chemotherapy and other protocols, as well as additional surgeries. Julie has stayed strong for her family (including her husband and three beautiful children ages 19, 16 and 13) and for her friends. She continues to inspire everyone around her with her incredible spirit, her optimism, and sense of gratitude – all of which come from her faith, which has helped Julie and her family throughout this unexpected and difficult journey.

Julie’s husband Mike has been nothing short of extraordinary, having been by her side every step of the way caring for and supporting her in every way that he can. He is an incredible example of living your marriage vows.

While much of her medical expenses and various support services provided by hospice are covered by insurance, other expenses are not. Julie hasn’t worked steadily since her initial diagnosis, and Mike recently took a leave of absence from his job to be her full-time caregiver as she is reaching the later stages of her journey. 

Mike agreed to let us set up this GoFundMe page on his family’s behalf humbly and only very reluctantly. Those of you who know him know that asking for this help is not something he would ever do. But you also know that Julie and Mike would be among the first to help family, friends, neighbors and others in need.  Despite not wanting to ask for help, he will certainly be grateful for the support. 

Any amount you can donate will aid with expenses until Mike is able to resume working, helping to reduce the financial strain during this challenging time.   
Of course, as always, your continued prayers for Julie and her family are appreciated.

Note - funds donated will be withdrawn by the campaign organizer to our personal bank account and given to the Laciskey family as quickly as possible by check or bank transfer. An initial withdrawal was made on 9/23/17 and  a personal check for that amount handed to Mike the same day.
