Lab Supplies for Students

My name is Makka Depa, and I am a Science teacher at West Side High School in Newark. Despite the fact that many of my students face unspeakable setbacks outside of the classroom, they still come to school everyday eager to learn.  Teaching at West Side, I've realized that the majority of the students are "hands-on" learners, and retain information best when they can create something linking their learning to the "real world". I would love to give our students a lab experience similar to that of students at more "affluent" schools, however, our school budget does not coincide with our needs. 

This upcoming school year, I will be teaching AP Biology ( a course being reintroduced at West Side this year), Honors Biology, and Forensic Science. My goal is to raise $2000.00 to purchase supplies for approximately 80 students.
