NECESITO DE TU AYUDA URGENTE PARA MANTENER CON VIDA A MI ESPOSA CONSUELO LOPEZ CHONILLO DE GAVINO.
Consuelo o Conchi como la conocemos entre sus amistades más cercanas y la familia, es mi esposa; una mujer fuerte que a sus 61 años ha luchado siempre por conseguir lo que se propone, con un espíritu inigualable, siempre positiva ante cualquier adversidad, madre de 4 hijos y abuelita de 7 nietos que son su adoración.
Por el inmenso amor que le tengo, me propuse y conseguí darle como regalo una operación que cambiaría su vida para bien. Esta intervención consistía en la colocación de una prótesis en su rodilla izquierda, para eliminar el dolor crónico e insoportable que sentía al caminar por presentar osteo artrosis en sus rodillas.
La fecha de esta operación fue escogida de tal forma que, una vez recuperada, pudiéramos celebrar nuestro aniversario matrimonial número 38, el 14 de marzo del 2018, como lo hemos hecho todos los años rodeados de nuestros hijos y en estos últimos años también de nuestros nietos.
Pero para este año, el destino nos tenía preparados otros planes, pues el sábado 3 de marzo del 2018 tuvimos que llevarla de emergencia a una clínica (Omnihospital) de la ciudad de Guayaquil, Ecuador, con un cuadro de shock séptico por el cual los doctores le daban 24 horas de vida. Encontraron en ella una infección ocasionada por una bacteria que se alojaba en su colon llamada Escherichia coli, la cual llegó hasta su sistema circulatorio provocando una infección sistémica. Debido a la fuerte infección se vieron comprometidos sus riñones, hígado y corazón.
Visto lo anterior fue sometida a una riesgosa cirugía de emergencia y se tuvo que extirpar todo su colon. Las 48 horas posteriores a la intervención fueron críticas y su pronóstico de vida no era el más alentador. Sin embargo, conociendo a mi esposa, luchó y al 5to. día ella empezó a darnos signos positivos de su recuperación.
Todo parecía estar pasando y que esta pesadilla era solo eso, una pesadilla. Sin embargo, al 7mo. día tuvo una fuerte recaída, era como volver a las 48 horas iniciales luego de su primera intervención. Ya los doctores no eran tan optimistas con respecto a su recuperación y sus respuestas dejaban más incógnitas que aciertos, pues ella presenta úlceras sangrantes a lo largo de su sistema digestivo que le provoca pérdidas sanguíneas, las cuales son restituidas con unidades de sangre diariamente. Este conjunto de eventos no la dejan salir de su estado de sedación, el mismo que ha sido inducido durante todo este tiempo, por la necesidad de entubarla.
A la presente fecha (21 de marzo 2018) ella sigue, por su delicado estado de salud, en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de la clínica, conectada a un respirador y a un sin número de tubos por donde circulan sus medicinas y alimentación líquida. Mientras tanto, los doctores siguen investigando la causa subyacente que no le permite recuperarse.
Hemos agotado ya la cobertura de su seguro particular, así como los ahorros de la familia más cercana, pues el costo diario de mantenerla en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos es oneroso, por la cual nos hemos visto en la necesidad de recurrir a este medio para poder recolectar fondos, los cuales tienen una meta estimada y estarán destinados a cubrir sus gastos de hospitalización, especialistas, medicinas, sangre, tomografías, endoscopías, plaquetas, etc., hasta que los médicos encuentren la causa de su grave enfermedad.
Si mi esposa, gracias a Dios, lograra salir de esta situación, los doctores han dicho que su recuperación tomaría unos 6 meses, hasta que ella se encuentre lista para ser intervenida quirúrgicamente por segunda ocasión, para dejar funcionando como debe ser su intestino delgado.
Mis deseos, entre otros y con la bendición de Dios, es poder tener a mi esposa y novia de toda la vida a mi lado, rodeados de nuestros hijos, hija, nueras y nietos, para disfrutar de nuestros domingos familiares, los cuales esperaba Conchi con tanta ansiedad pues la hacían sentir muy feliz, así como poder seguir celebrando muchos aniversarios matrimoniales más.

Consuelo, or Conchi as we know her among her closest friends and family, is my wife; a strong woman who at 61 is a fighter in achieving what she sets out to do, with an unequaled spirit, always positive in the face of any adversity, mother of 4 children and grandmother of 7 grandchildren who are her adoration.
Due to the huge amount of love that I have for her, I proposed and I got to give her as a gift an operation that would change her life for the best. This intervention consisted in the placement of a prosthesis in her left knee to eliminate the chronic and unbearable pain she felt when walking due to osteo osteoarthritis in her knees.
The date of this operation was chosen in such a way that, once recovered, we could celebrate our wedding anniversary number 38, on March 14, 2018, as we did every year surrounded by our children and in these last years also by our grandchildren. But for this year, fate had other plans prepared for us, because on Saturday, March 3, 2018, we had to take her to an emergency clinic (Omnihospital) in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, with a clinical picture of septic shock by which doctors gave her 24 hours of life. They found an infection caused by some bacteria that lodged in her colon called Escherichia coli, which reached her circulatory system causing a systemic infection. Due to the strong infection, her kidneys, liver and heart were compromised.
Seen the above, she had to undergo a risky emergency surgery and the doctors had to remove her entire colon. The 48 hours after the intervention were critical and her life prognosis was not the most encouraging. However, knowing my wife, she struggled and on the fifth day she began to give us positive signs of her recovery.
Everything seemed to be improving and that this nightmare was just that, a nightmare. However, on the seventh day she had a strong relapse, it was like going back to the initial 48 hours after her first intervention. The doctors were not so optimistic about her recovery and their answers left more questions, because she has bleeding ulcers along her digestive system that causes blood loss, which are restored with units of blood daily. This set of events does not let her leave her sedation state, the same one that has been induced during all this time, due to the need to be intubated.
As of this date (March 20, 2018), she continues her delicate state of health, in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, connected to a respirator and to a number of tubes through which her medicines and liquid food circulate. Meanwhile, doctors are still investigating the underlying cause that does not allow her to recover.
We have already exhausted the coverage of our insurance, as well as the savings of the closest family, as the daily cost of maintaining her in the Intensive Care Unit is expensive. I see myself in the need to resort to this means to collect funds, which have an estimated goal and are intended to cover her hospitalization expenses, specialists, medicines, blood, platelets, etc., until doctors find the cause of this serious illness.
If my wife, thank God, manages to get out of this situation, the doctors have said that her recovery would take about 6 months, until she is ready to undergo surgery for the second time, to let her small intestine function as it should be.
My greatest wish is, with the blessing of God, to be able to have my wife and girlfriend of all my life by my side, surrounded by our children, daughter, daughters-in-law and grandchildren, to enjoy our family Sundays, which she was so anxiously waiting for and that made her feel very happy. May we be able to continue celebrating many more marriage anniversaries.
