La Diaspora Festival - San Francisco en Puebla

'La Diaspora Festival' is an International Cultural Festival, a community effort taking 20 artists from San Francisco to Mexico,  in November and December of 2019, with the idea of creating a cultural bridge between artists in La Diáspora and our motherland.

To make this happen, we are looking for your support with our traveling and lodging expenses of $15,000.

La Diáspora is the exploration of the identities of people with cultural roots in Latin-American countries living in the United States.

La Diáspora recognizes the role of Arts and Culture to create safe spaces for migrant communities living in a place so diverse and oppressive as the United States.

La Diáspora upholds the different experiences -indigenous, black, queer, trans, disabled, and many more,- and celebrates the different intersections that make us at the same time unique, and connected together, therefore it challenges the perception of what the "Latino" community is supposed to be.

The idea of La Diáspora is not a given answer, rather it is an exercise of exploration that is only possible through community participation, a community where we uphold the voices of the most oppressed, and bring them to the forefront,  and create a container for all of our voices.

We are excited to present the work of Michael V. Rios, Alejandro Murgía and Lou Dematteis, La Gente SF, Banda Sin Nombre, The Genie SF, Seoulstice&Tarawa, Andreina Maldonado, Ilia Correa, Shane Zaldivar, Benjamin Baker, Keith Secola, José Lobo, and produced by Arturo Méndez. From November 27 to December 2nd, 2019, the City of Puebla, Mexico, will receive all the magic of San Francisco and the Bay Area, and only you can make it possible.
