Hayden's Internship

In 1 Samuel, Chapter 3, the story goes that young Samuel heard voices in the night, calling his name. Each time, he would run to Eli, his priest and ask him what was the matter. Each time, Eli would reply “No, Samuel, I didn’t call you.” On the third time, Eli suggested that Samuel respond to what he realized was God’s voice by saying “Speak, for your servant is listening.” When Samuel did so, God gave him a message, setting him on the path to prophethood.
I am currently a Senior at Western Carolina University where I am set to graduate in May. Throughout my collegiate career, I have found myself called by God to enter the ministry and serve Him. In order to discern this call for myself as well as to gain experience in the church, I have accepted an internship position with Cullowhee United Methodist Church and their campus ministry for the 2015-2016 academic year.
With the work at Cullowhee United Methodist Church I will engage with very young children on worship days and through involvement at the preschool. I will also work with children who are of a youth group age (grades 6-12) on a weekly basis and during special projects and mission trips. Other work in the church will be with adults of all ages. This may occur at worship, on committee meetings, or in the community during service work or other church related work. The church work will require me to engage with people who vary greatly in age, socio-economic status, race, and gender.”
Because the Church is unable to provide housing or the majority of my living expenses for my year of service, I have been asked to raise the funds for this myself. I have raised half of the necessary funds myself, and I have decided to come to you, asking for your prayers, as well as assistance in obtaining the remainder of my goal of $1,500 per month for the remaining 6 month period, or $8,000 in total. This money would cover the cost of rent, utilities, food, gas, and other basic living expenses. All donors would also receive weekly updates from me in the form of a blog post, detailing my week and spiritual growth.
I greatly appreciate your assistance and kindness in helping me discern God's call for me.
