Help Ashley conquer Cancer
In 2016 our family found out that Ashley was diagnosed with stage III Breast Cancer. Her fight for life and love for her family kept her strong throughout her battle against it. After Chemotherapy, and a complete left mastectomy in late 2016, she was hopeful that her journey with cancer was over. Even though her chances of reoccurrence were very high, Ashley continued raising her three beautiful boys, with expectations of being cancer free for a long time.
To help her cause, the same year Ashley was diagnosed with Breast cancer, she had started her journey as a consultant with a lovely company LuLaRoe in order to help her hard working husband with the bills. This at home business venture was a great opportunity to keep her distracted from enduring chemotherapy while still being able to homeschool her boys.
In November of 2018, while visiting Disney World to celebrate almost two years of being in remission, she returned home to find that what started as a cold like cough was in fact stage IV Lung Cancer. The cancer had metastasized not only in her lungs, but also spread to her head which she had found out days before her 35th birthday. As devastating as this news has been for her, and our family, she is determined to keep fighting and survive to see her boys grow up.
After several tests and meetings with her oncologist, she is seeking treatment options to see what’s best for her. Ashley learned that without treatment; such as radiation and more chemotherapy, her life expectancy could be as little as a few months to approximately three years to live. She recently finished her 2.5 weeks of radiation followed by a CT Scan to see what kind of progress has been made. Next, she will have to start chemotherapy which will last an entire year. We, as her family will be there in every step of the way. Her journey will be long, but with faith we are optimistic that we will have Ashley for many more years to come.
For those of you who don’t know Ashley, she is a wife and the mother of three beautiful, smart boys in which she homeschools. Sebastian 9, Dexter 8, Oliver 6. She is also a loving daughter, a sister and an amazing human being. She revolves her life around the care of her children 24/7 by homeschooling them, taking them to soccer practice and cooking. Her husband, an ex-Marine, works a full time job managing a Restaurant/Bar which is the only source of income for the family of five. Due to medical bills, long commutes to hospitals for treatment/testing added the cost of everyday living, the bills have started to pile up substantially.
The Vargas-Jenkins family have always been very generous with friends and family, putting their loved ones first. It is our turn to give back and help this beautiful family who not only need our financial support but also emotional support during this difficult time. All monies raised will be given to the family to be used for costs associated with medical treatment.
We thank you in the name of our family for any support. Her road will be long and hard but we will never leave their sides. Her strength, perseverance and amazing attitude towards her fight against cancer, was what once got her out triumphant; and she will do it over again. Her awe-inspiring love for life and that of her family is truly an inspiration and admirable. There is no doubt she will once again come out undefeated.
