Kyrell’s fight against Leukemia

Donation protected

On May 28, 2018, I brought my eldest son, Kyrell, to the emergency room at Advocate Good Sheppard Hospital in Barrington and received news no mother should ever have to hear. After several diagnostic tests, the emergency room physician told me Kyrell could possibly have Leukemia and will need to be transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital  (LGH) for further testing immediately. Kyrell was brought in for a fever. Kyrell was transferred to LGH later that day and our worst nightmare and greatest fear became a reality in a matter of hours. Kyrell has Leukemia.

Kyrell just finished 4th grade. His teachers describe him as responsible and consistently commend him for his ability to lead a group. He loves soccer and does his best to be actively involved in extracurricular activities. He is a good son and always does his chores without constant reminding. Kyrell is a loving brother to his 5 year old brother, Kalix. He even helped potty-trained him. Like many older brothers, he calls his younger bother “annoying” but is never hesitant to drop anything to help him, especially with his math homework.

As a mother, it is heartbreaking to see a helpless and innocent child suffer. It is worse knowing you might not be able to get him the best care he deserves because of financial constraints. Our family will truly appreciate any help you can give.

Thank you and God bless.
