Over 7 years ago, Kylie Allen-Kulyk and her family began a journey most of us can't even imagine. Kylie has spent several years in and out of hospitals. Medical, travel & living expenses continue to grow and will become more astronomical in the future with a hospital transfer possibly out of state!
On top of everything Kylie has been through medically, since June, she has been chasing an unknown illness that has now spiraled out of control! This increasingly aggressive disease is attacking Kylies body in a vicious STROKE LIKE FORM! It's a horrific cycle that randomly picks parts of her body to attack at! Her body randomly fills with painful fluid that travels throughout her body while her muscles lock up, painfully contracting & distorting her body! These stroke like attacks are at times so severe that it puts her into a paralysis like state for different periods at a time along with effecting her muscles in her feet to painfully turn in and lock to that position! It affects her face and tongue making it hard to talk and difficult to swallow. The pain is intense with minimal relief, while the doctors continue to search for answers and work towards a possible hospital transfer for more specialized care!
Since November of 2017, Kylie has spent more time in the ER and hospitals than out of them, including a 17-day hospitalization in Pittsburgh just after Christmas. More tests, more procedures, ICU, severe reactions to medications, intense pain and STILL NO SOLID ANSWERS to this nightmare! She was released home once she was somewhat stable to wait for answers from all the tests. Her stay home was brief, and Kylie was again admitted to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital on 1/17/2018. Doctors are still at a loss and we are hopeful that Kylie will be transferred to a hospital out of state in the next couple days!
Kylie has missed out on so much of her childhood! These should be some of the best years of her life but instead lives a daily life with this horrific & unexplainable illness! Through all of this, Kylie and her family stay strong. They move through each day with the love of family, faith, and hope!
