Kyle's 2019 Gothia Cup trip

Thank you for viewing my page! My name is Kyle Rodriguez and I am lucky enough to have been selected to represent CCL United (Club Champions League) in the 2019 Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden this July. The Gothia Cup is one of the world’s largest youth soccer tournaments involving about 1,700 teams from 80 different nations. ( The World Youth Cup ).  I currently play soccer for the Northern Virginia Soccer Club (NVSC) and the varsity team at Forest Park High School. I’ve been playing soccer for 12 years and have truly found my passion for the game in the past few years. I am working hard toward my goal of playing Division 1 collegiate soccer with an eye on achieving my ultimate dream of being a professional soccer player.  Playing in the Gothia Cup is a huge opportunity for me to experience competitive, high-level international soccer that will help me attain these goals.  I am also very excited to visit different places in Europe, form new friendships and meet people from different countries across the globe. I am already so grateful for all the support I receive from my parents, family, friends and coaches. The funds I raise from this Go Fund Me will help me very much.


For me, soccer is more than just a game. Soccer is something I live by every day. Anywhere I go it is usually with a ball and if I’m not playing, then I’m watching games and highlights, studying the world’s best players for ways that I can improve upon my own game. I would like to credit my past coaches especially Coach Ryan Contreras for helping me develop the skills I have today and my mom who has supported me throughout my whole life. Also, my amazing dad who put together a turf soccer field in my back yard so I can train at any time. To me, the game is far more than just kicking a ball in a goal. Soccer has taught me about teamwork, determination, discipline, patience and trust in your teammates, invaluable skills that guide my life both on and off the field.  The biggest reason I love soccer is it brings people together. Soccer is called the beautiful game because it is an international language that everyone knows.
 

This opportunity to participate in the Gothia Cup in Sweden is such a great opportunity for me to experience some incredible soccer competition and to better prepare me for the achievements in the sport that lie ahead of me.   As with everything in the sport, I cannot do this alone.  So I am asking you for your support to help me get to Sweden this summer.  Any contribution that you can spare will go a long way to help me not only get to the Gothia Cup, but to achieve lifelong aspirations for which I have worked so hard.  Thank you very much for your consideration and support.
