Kyle & Missy Lewallen beat cancer

 

 

Many friends at Microsoft will remember Kyle joining our team in 2000.  Kyle is "still waters run deep" personified.  He has amazing technical skills, a quick recall, and got along well with everyone.  Any time a volunteer was needed, we could count on Kyle to come through for us with often inventive solutions to complex issues.  Some of us were privileged to meet Missy and attend their rock star wedding in September 2001.

 

Since then, Kyle and Missy have built a great life together and are loving parents to four wonderful children.  Faith and Seth are both young adults  - both creative and hard working like their parents. The two younger children, Jenna and Iris, nine and seven respectively, are equally creative and high-spirited. In 2012, Kyle and Missy adopted Iris. Born with several physical disabilities, Kyle and Missy have shown this little angel that there are no limits. Both girls, best of friends to each other, are active in dance, art, school, karate and they love Disney and Star Wars. In all, simply an amazing family who go camping together, take family cruises together, and vacations to Disney together. But right now, the family will have to put many of these activities on hold.

 

Last month, November 2017, the family received the most heartbreaking news. Kyle has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The cancer has spread to his liver. Kyle will be starting part of his treatment mid-December, beginning with surgery Monday the 18th, to remove the section of the colon (cecum) containing the tumor. They will evaluate during the surgery if removal of the lymph nodes and the section of liver that the cancer has spread to is possible.  As one of the medical professional put it, “Oh my gosh, he is a young father of four. We need to get him started on treatment right away!”

 

The treatment will be in stages and will include chemo and surgeries. This exhausting process will be  physically and mentally difficult for Kyle and met with great financial expense.

 

This GoFundMe page has been set up so that friends and family of the Lewallen’s may have the opportunity to make a much-needed financial contribution to support the medical expenses Kyle and the family will begin to endure now.  Right now, the family cannot foresee the extent of the expenses, but as you know, they will be monumental.
