Help Fund Knights Experimental Rocketry at UCF

Donation protected
Knights Experimental Rocketry is a student ran organization at the University of Central Florida. Our goal is to lower the barrier into amateur and experimental rocketry and make technical projects accessible to every student regardless of background. We strive to build the technical skills that students need to thrive in their engineering profession, while also giving students the opportunity to participate in the design and manufacturing of student-researched and developed rockets.

This past year, we constructed 4 researched and developed rockets - three solid rocket motors and one experimental hybrid motor. Our solid rocket motors competed at Friends of Amateur Rocketry competition in Mojave, California, and swept the 5K category, winning first, second, and third place.

This year, our projects include: Hybrid rocket competing at IREC, an international competition competing against 150+ other teams. An experimental liquid bi-propellant rocket to compete at FAR Dollar Per Foot, aiming to construct UCF's most ambitious rocket yet. NASA Student Launch, a rocketry project sponsored by NASA, seeking to give younger students a real glimpse of what industry expectations are like, while also putting a strong emphasis on payload development. We also have our experimental ion propulsion project, focused on researching and developing a small scale ion thruster, similar to propulsion technologies for most satellites. KXR also offers a multitude of workshops in order to better refine students technical skills to be able to succeed independently in projects. Our workshops include: Ansys, Solidworks, OpenRocket, OpenMotor, L1 High Power Rocketry Certification.

Supported by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA UCF), and Students for the Development and Exploration of Space (SEDS UCF), we have been able to dedicate the past few years to perfecting our rocket designs and manufacturing crucial components and subsystems.

Unfortunately, our university is unable to fund all of our costs, including van rentals, for competition travel. And so...

The money that we raise will go directly into our travel funds!
Spaceport America Cup is set to take place in White Sands, NM
Friends of Amateur Rocketry will take place in the Mojave Desert, CA
NASA Student Launch will take place in Toney, Alabama

The two combined amount to a little over 4,000 miles of travel!!

We know what you're thinking... "If only we could build a rocket to get us there." With your support, we can aspire to launch rockets this big!

It is our hope to give as many of our 150+ members a chance to see their work and time pay off on a launchpad at these two competitions!

Your donations will go directly to buying materials for our rockets and projects, and getting our students to be able to travel to competition.

We thank you in advance for all your support and time, and feel free to visit our website at kxrucf.com to learn more about our club!

Note: Funds may also be used to purchase immediately required materials and tooling
