Shelley's Recovery Fund

My strong, courageous sister, Shelley Werner Torsan is currently in critical cardiac care at University of Chicago after arriving at Palos Hospital on December 29th with pneumonia that spread an infection throughout her entire body, causing her to become septic.  Her organs shut down.  She suffered a severe cardiac arrest and several mini strokes at that time. Doctors put her in a medically induced coma, giving her organs a chance to heal.
They told us she had a 20% chance of coming out of this. 
She is a survivor who refuses to give up!  
She did come out of it!  Her organs are healing.  It was through this incident that we discovered she is suffering from a very sick heart.  She was transferred to UofC as soon as she was stable and is being treated by the advanced cardiac team.
She is truly an amazing woman and deserves the best! 
Not only is she fighting right now, but had already fought off leukemia once 13 years ago.  And when it came back 2 years later, she fought it again!   She has gone through radiation therapy, she's had a stem cell transplant, she's endured years of graft vs. host disease, and through it all, she always remained humble and kind. 
Putting faith in the Lord's plan, she struggles for every ounce of energy that can muster up right now.
She, her husband Joe, her son Curtis and daughter Miley need as much prayer and as much strength as we can all provide them right now.
They also need as much financial help as we can all provide right now. She has 100% blockage in her coronary artery and has blood clots in her heart. Her heart is only working at half capacity.  She will need heart surgery and long-term Rehabilitation and in home caregivers for when she gets home.
