Baba Kwazi Nkrumah Memorial

~In memory of our beloved ancestor, Baba Kwazi Nkrumah~

We are sad to announce that on December 8th, 2023, our elder, Kwazi Nkrumah passed away after sudden health complications arose during a visit with his family.

Baba Kwazi, a former SNCC member and consistent actor in the Black Liberation, Labor, and Environmental Justice movements, was a beloved pillar who touched, inspired, and guided many in the Southern and Northern California communities.

At the family's request, a small committee has begun planning a Los Angeles-based tribute and reception to honor his great character and his legacy of work in the struggle for change.

Family, community members, and comrades will gather at Chuco's Social Justice Center (7625 S Central Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90001) on Saturday, February 17th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm to pay tribute to a dedicated leader and friend.

We ask that you support our efforts to memorialize his great life and contributions by donating here. Proceeds will go toward the cost of hosting, accommodations, and amenities.
