Shelter for Ellen

Donation protected
Hi Everyone.. thank you for taking the time to learn about and hopefully help our friend Ellen Boyle.  My name is Cindi Rogan and I was blessed to meet Ellen when I was assigned to be her Visiting Teacher at Church.  What is a Visiting Teacher you might ask? Well, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS), we ladies are each assigned 1-3 women whom we are asked to visit monthly and  make sure they are taken care of and loved... well about three years ago I was assigned Ellen!

Ellen's Story...

Ellen's childhood is one of the saddest and most tragic stories ever told. Too sad to put into words... no child should ever experience what  Ellen suffered.   As an adult, Ellen converted to the the LDS church and found peace but she  has never  been able to completely recover and live a normal life.  She has been officially diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among other disorders.   She has never married and never had children.. has no family at all in fact.

Ellen has dedicated her life to being a loving caretaker of children as a baby sitter and nanny.     She may have a hard time relating to us adults, but with children, Ellen is like Mary Poppins!   Having no children of her own... her cats are HER children....  she cannot live without her cats!!!

Ellen is at a crossroads in her life.  After recently losing a charitable source of income that was assisting her to pay rent,  she has fallen behind  three months and will be on the street by this weekend.  She is 63 years old and  has NO family and can find NO ONE to take her and her three beloved cats in. We have decided the best action to take is for her to catch up and stay where she is.

Ellen is literally a few days from sleeping under the  pier with her cats, or in her barely running car with her cats because she will not be seperated from them. This is how homeless people start wondering the streets folks.

This is the point where we as fellow human beings need to step in and keep Ellen from being homeless.  I cannot bear the thought of Ellen being on the street.  We CAN catch her up on her rent and keep her from the elements.. if we all help even just a little.

It will take 6-12 months for Ellen to qualify for senior housing.   She has a plan in place to pay her rent in the coming months with a supervised budget and applying for food stamps which will free up some of her money.   To make a long story short...  she needs $2000.00 to get caught up and be allowed to stay in her modest apartment.   To keep this faithful and good hearted church lady from sleeping on the street all we need to raise is $2000.

One time several years ago I was speaking to a Doctor gentlemen as we stood in line to assist the homeless and poor at a Salvation Army Christmas Day Dinner in San Diego.  Before the doors opened  folks were lined up around the block to enjoy a meal.  Each volunteer was in line to personally welcome and escort a guest to their seat. We wondered aloud who we would be escorting.... and I'll never forget what the Doctor said. He said, "the funny thing is, the only difference between us and a lot of these people is one paycheck."  It is true.. one paycheck for someone barely surviving is the difference in sleeping in a bed under a roof and blankets or sleeping under a bridge or in a homeless shelter.

We are not asking for a lot...  just enough to keep Ellen with a roof over her head and a soft bed to sleep on at night with her cats.  We just need $2000. to keep her housed, if you could find it in your heart to help, we'd be so grateful.

Thank you sooooo much for helping one of Heavenly Fathers children.  Mother Theresa said "God loves the world through us".  Let's show Ellen some love... she's been through a lot on this Earth.  Thank you :) xoxo
