Help Teacher Carolyn recover from School Accident
Carolyn Duke has taught elementary
school for 24 years. She is a dedicated
teacher who gives above and beyond the
norm. She has
positively influenced hundreds of students.
On November 5th while safely escorting
her 4th grade children to the bus at the end of the school day, she stepped into a deep
manhole, as witnessed by students,
parents and bus drivers. The manhole
cover had not been replaced correctly. This caused her to fall into the manhole and the cover flipped up and hit her in the hip and
lower back.
Through no fault of her own, she has
suffered severe back, leg and neck trauma.
She is unable to sleep due to debilitating
pain, continually uses ice packs to relieve , swelling and is unable
to do normal daily tasks. Her mental stress is due to not being there for her students
and worries about their well being.
Texas law prevents schools from being
sued for negligence. The District requires
her to use some of her own sick days and
deducts 30% of her salary while she is
recovering. This has caused financial and
extreme emotional distress. Even if
she is released to return to work, she may have chronic pain for the rest of her life.
Please donate to this beloved and
dedicated teacher. Help ease her distress
and support her medical needs.
