Kupfner Home Overtaken by Marshall Fire

Donation protected
The communities of Superior, Louisville, and the Marshall lake area in Boulder County experienced a fire like no other ever seen in Colorado on December 30, 2021. As the wind raged up to 110mph, the fire quickly carried from open space to densely populated suburban neighborhoods, including the location of the homes of Rick and Susie Kupfner, Elizabeth Kupfner, and Rachael Augen. The fire couldn't be contained. It was unimaginable and entirely out of control, quickly overtaking over 500 homes and entire communities. The Kupfner and Augen family narrowly escaped their homes with only the clothes on their backs and their eight rescue dogs. Vehicles, memories, and even medications on the counter had to all be left behind.

The Marshall Fire decimated the Kupfner's homes in the old town area of Superior, Colorado. Their home was more than just another house. It was where Rick's family and all of their relatives were born and grew up. It was where they raised their son Kenny and daughter Elizabeth; and where they ran their business and rebuilt antique cars from the bottom up--a labor of love for Rick. It is their home base for helping tirelessly to rescue animals and help with fundraisers for the non-profit Denver Dachshunds Rescue and Transport (DDRT) and where they taught English to children as a second language. It is where they return each day after bussing children with special needs to school. It is where they were surrounded by history and family, as the town exploded with growth and popularity.

Rick, Susie, Elizabeth, and Rachael made it out, and we are so grateful that their angels helped them and their beloved dogs to safety. I ask that you help us lift them up during the most tragic time of their lives. The most significant need is for funds to help them get the essentials that they need to begin anew and to help put a roof over their heads as they navigate their next steps. They are currently in two hotel rooms and have not yet seen their home. Although they know it is gone, and a family member told them they saw their house burn down to the foundation, they still hold out hope. The disbelief that they lost everything is real. Please help us by donating any amount you can. Any amount helps if we all work together. 100% of the donations will go directly to Rick, Susie, Elizabeth, and Rachael. We will post updates when they are available.
