Help Schools in India, Nicaragua and Bangladesh

Donation protected
Hi, we are Rob and Kate and we are raising money to support three incredible schools: Train Platform Schools in India; Mobile Schools in Nicaragua; and Floating Schools in Bangladesh. These schools use creative and innovative ways to educate children who are often unable to access other forms of schooling. #innovatetoeducate

Why?
As primary school teachers, we understand the transformative impact of education.
These schools which we visited and volunteered at are extremely inspiring in their determination to support their students to access an education despite the immense barriers that prevent it, such as child labour and youth homelessness. #righttoeducation

To highlight the true impact of these schools we created a documentary which you can view for free here (https://www.elementalaim.org.au/film) or visit our website (https://www.elementalaim.org.au) to learn more about our not-for-profit.

Train Platform Schools

"If not for the train platform schools the children would have been scavenging plastics for a living.”
– Chandrakanti Patra, Train Platform School teacher

The Train Platform Schools are located on, underneath or nearby train stations throughout Bhubaneswar, India. They educate children who are living and working on the trains and around train stations, collecting plastics to sell, sweeping the train, or selling food to passengers.

Floating Schools

“Our floating school is a combination of a school bus and a school house at the same time.”
– Rezwan Mohammed, Founder

The Floating Schools are repurposed fishing boats that pick up children from their villages and educate them onboard. The impacts of climate change means that, during the monsoon season, water levels are rising higher and many mainstream schools are flooded and therefore are inaccessible and unusable.

Mobile Schools

“For us, the Mobile School is a new way of doing education in the streets.”
– Amalia Cuadra, Director

The Mobile School is a cart that folds out like a telescope. It contains blackboards and educational games and is driven or walked to different areas throughout the streets of Leon, Nicaragua. It is used to educate and assist children who may be at-risk or in a situation of vulnerability.

These schools need our help
All funds raised are shared equally between these three schools. The money will be used to recover from the impact of COVID-19, pay teachers’ salaries, provide medicine for students, fund internet access and purchase equipment, books and stationery, amongst other things.

On behalf of the staff and students of these schools, thank you so much for checking out our GoFundMe campaign!
