Krystin's Road To Recovery

Donation protected
As many of you already know my sister Krystin was involved in a bad car accident September 23, 2017. Krystin was not the only person in her vehicle she had a friend with her.  A man driving towards them in a truck ended up having a medical issue while driving causing him to cross over the double yellow line causing a head on collision with my sisters vehicle. The two cars in front of her were able to swerve around the truck, and Krystin also tried to but unfortunately it wasn't enough. Her car was crushed in the front and pushed over the guard rail trapping her in the vehicle. Her friend was able to get out and have someone call her mom who was able to have someone get in touch with our parents and then myself.

Upon arriving to Valley Regional there was no information given besides that Krystin was still in the ambulance waiting to be flown to Dartmouth, and that she had a pretty bad leg injury. After what seemed like the longest wait of our lives the DR came out and brought us back to let us know her injuries.... Krystin was dying from internal bleeding. Her right femur is broken, her liver has small holes in it and was basically smooshed, she has bleeding around her stomach, small air bubbles in her lungs, the list goes on. She was brought straight to the OR when arriving to DHMC where they were able to get the bleeding under control, some of the holes closed up in her liver.

The DR said if she wasn't brought to a big hospital like DHMC that she would have died Saturday. We are so extremely grateful for everything that Dartmouth has done and continues to do for our girl.

As of today, Tuesday September 26, 2017, Krystin will be going in mid morning for yet another surgery  to hopefully close up her belly as long as there is no more bleeding coming from her liver. Her nurses have begun to wean her off of some of the meds shes on and also turned off her breathing tube early this morning to start weaning her off that to make her lungs stronger again. Unfortunately but not surprising it only lasted about 30/40 seconds. With her stomach being open still its no surprise that shes just in too much pain to do it by herself this soon. Our mother went in to see her and as she was walking in she noticed Krystin was slightly awake, she was being very responsive to her nurse, The nurse asked Krystin if she was feeling pain and Krystin was able to give a little head shake.

Her leg has not been touched yet besides the metal cage it is in. No surgeries or anything will be done to her leg until they are sure that everything going on with her liver, lungs and belly area are progressing greatly.

Krystin has a very long recovery time, she's no where near ready to leave the hospital and that's ok because she's alive. My parents have taken time off of work so we can be at the hospital with her. They are not people who ask for help freely, they work extremely hard for everything they have, they are the best parents two girls could have. But they need help right now. They need all the love and support they can get right now in this stressful time. Nothing is too little, anything helps, and it is greatly appreciated.

Krystin is a beautiful soul. She is such a free spirit, UNIQUE, loving, just the most amazing young lady anyone could ever meet. I'm so thankful that God chose me to be her big sister. I catch myself staring at her all the time, she has the most beautiful green eyes with dark lashes, the perfect wavy hair, and the most heart warming smile. She really is one of a kind.

If you cannot donate, its more than ok the love and support has been more than we could ever imagine. That's what we are mainly asking for, knowing how supportive everyone is and that everyone is here for us is the best feeling and I know when Krystin wakes up and she sees all of the love that people have for her shes going to feel amazing. So thank you so much to all of the people who have already reached out and the people who continue to do so. You're all greatly appreciated.
