Please consider donating to help with medical expenses for Kristy Watson McClaren. Kristy is still recovering in the hospital after battling a life threatening septic infection and intestinal blockage that required emergency surgery. Kristy is the mother of two wonderful sons, Tyler and Colby.
On Thursday night, June 29th, Kristy was rushed to the hospital with severe abdominal pain, and diagnosed with an intestinal blockage. The doctors were hopeful an NG tube would clear the blockage and surgery would not be needed. Kristy had scar tissue from radiation treatment from a previous illness. Doctors were very concerned about complications from this scar tissue and surgical success.
Unfortunately, on Saturday, July 1st, emergency surgery became necessary when she experienced worsening symptoms, a drastic drop in blood pressure, and a significant increase in her heart rate. They successfully removed the blockage and old scarring and felt good about her recovery.
However, after emergency surgery, Kristy became septic with a mysterious life threatening infection. Her body temperature reached dangerous levels, and again her blood pressure dropped significantly and her heart rate accelerated. Kristy was given maximum doses of antibiotics and blood pressure medication to sustain her life. She stayed in a medically induced coma for nine days to allow her body time to fight the infection. Doctors are still not sure what caused the sepsis.
Kristy has a long road to recovery. She will be in the hospital for an extended amount of time and will need to fully recover before being able to go back to work. Kristy does have medical insurance that will help cover some of the medical cost, however, the expenses will be significant. Kristy will also need financial help in order to pay living expenses while she is unable to work.
